Overview: A database is a collection of related information or data. Common examples of databases include phone books, mailing list, medical records, personnel records etc. Access is a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) and can be used for the classification, storage and retrieval of information. The way the information is organised is what makes it possible to easily and flexibly extract or re-arrange data.

This module introduces students to the more advanced features in Access. Tasks include using charts, subforms/subreports, other form techniques, and ActiveX controls. Students will also learn how to work with indexes, replicate databases, and use Access and the Internet. Other topics include creating and using macros and working with switchboards plus exporting data to Excel and Word.
